YOUTH SKILLS COACH
Job Brief:
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our coaching team. Successful candidates will be responsible for providing a welcoming and challenging environment for youth while working alongside a supportive team of staff and volunteers. We are hiring for the position of Juniors (ages 7 -9) and Inters (ages 10 -12) coach.
Requirements:
-
1-2 years experience in coaching sports programs.
-
Must be capable of physically or verbally demonstrating falling techniques and orienting participants.
-
Climbing background is not required but is considered an asset.
-
Up-to-date criminal record check/vulnerable sector check.
-
First aid/CPR training will be provided/subsidized if necessary.
Responsibilities:
-
Part-time, Monday through Friday evenings, but must be flexible.
-
Create and implement weekly lessons based on the age and skill level of their participants for each program following the FBC and CEC national Curriculum.

Carry out scheduled programs in an organized manner.
-
Effectively supervise any program volunteer assigned to their program(s).
-
Demonstrate respect at all times to all colleagues, students, and their guardians no matter their skill level, race, religion, gender, sex, age, physical ability, or congnitive ability.

Provide constructive feedback and/or direction to management to resolve problems.
-
Communicate with parents and provide information on progress, schedule, and more.
-
Ensure program operations and activities adhere to legal guidelines and internal policies.

Work under the guidance of the Program Director and Coaching Coordinator.

Implement goals for coaching programs according to the strategic objectives of the FBC as set by the Programs Director.

Consistent communication with Coaching Coordinator on matters relating to training, program development and quality, incidents occurring at team/skills or involving team/skills climbers
Job Type: Fixed term contract - part-time hours.
Contract length: 4 months

AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM FACILITATOR/LEADER
Job Brief:
We are looking for an enthusiastic facilitator(s) for our afterschool camp. Successful candidates will be responsible for providing a safe and fun environment for kids ages 5-12, while helping develop climbing skills, engaging in interactive games, leading outdoor activities, and more, in a positive “challenge-by-choice” environment.
Requirements:
-
1-2 years of experience facilitating, coaching, or teaching children preferred.
-
Indoor or outdoor bouldering/climbing experience is considered an asset.
-
Must be physically capable of participating in activities, demonstrating techniques, and spotting participants.
-
Up-to-date criminal record/vulnerable sector check.
-
Valid First aid/CPR certificate (recertification training will be provided/subsidized if necessary).
-
ECE Training is not required but is considered an asset.
Responsibilities:
-
Answers directly to the Program Director.
-
Help organize and plan afterschool activities as well as full-day programs for kids ages 5-12.
-
Pick up children at nearby schools and bus stops, following a strict timeline.
-
Implement daily plan/schedule alongside co-facilitator(s), Program Director, and volunteers.
-
Teach bouldering skills, follow safety protocols, promote teamwork, and help children develop self-confidence.
-
Supervise children on out-trips (walking).
-
Be prepared with impromptu games/activities for downtime.
-
Be enthusiastic about being active and having fun no matter the season/weather.
-
Aid with additional facility events and tasks as necessary.
-
Be able to problem-solve in unanticipated situations.
-
Competently complete necessary paperwork including incident reports, attendance, timesheets, etc. in a timely manner.
-
Work effectively amongst a diverse group of staff, children, and gym patrons.
-
Provide excellent customer service and build relationships with camper parents and families.
Job Type: Fixed term contract - part time hours.
Contract length: 10 months
Salary: Starts at $13.75 per hour with raise upon completion of probationary period.
