Alexis Rideout
My name is Alexis Rideout and I’d like to put my name forward for consideration as an FBC board member.
My professional background is well suited to supporting our bouldering coop. I have 15+ years of experience in education, currently working as an Exceptionalities Lead in ASD-W and previously as a Resource teacher. My experience in creating inclusive, safe spaces that nurture a sense of belonging can be broken down into practical skills such as the ability to:
-
Develop efficient processes to coordinate programs and groups of people
-
Keep detailed and documented records
-
Collect and analyze data to support data-driven decisions
-
Provide training to small-to-large groups (1-100+)
-
Create and use systems of communication to foster collaborative practice
(And I actually enjoy using Excel!)
Our bouldering coop provides such a beautifully wholesome community space for our diverse demographic. My children are involved in the competitive programs, and aside from the climbing skills they have gained, I am so impressed with the mindset that bouldering fosters. With a push from my kids, I started climbing a handful of years ago. Let me tell you, in the beginning I was filled with anxiety and thought I was too old to start. The support and encouragement from the FBC crew (staff and members alike) has reshaped those thoughts and I have grown to absolutely love the struggle involved with learning to climb.
I hold deep gratitude towards FBC and it would be a privilege to play a supporting role as a board member.
