Youth/Teen Development Classes (14 weeks)
We are aiming to have practices on Monday and Wednesday evenings but there might be some flexibility in altering this if it doesn't work for some of the interested climbers. Please let us know if you have input on this.
Practice/training will be twice per week for 1.5 hours each, running for 14 weeks (skipping over March Break).
Please contact us to confirm attendance at tryouts - January 6th or 8th at 6:45 pm.
Total cost this season will be a special price of $650.00 +HST, payable in installments.
Climbing access pass included with registration for the duration of the program! (Normally $135-$210 depending on membership status, based on a monthly rate).
FBC competition fees will be included (the comps we host ourselves).
Volunteer hours can be converted into payment of fees up to half of the cost. These can be existing banked volunteer hours, or hours volunteered throughout the coming months.
If you require rental climbing shoes, we will provide you with a discounted rate of $70 +HST for rentals on each day of class (normally $120 at the rental punch card rate or $140 at the standard rate).
FBC has a climbing skills development program to take Fredericton's climbing kids to the next level! Something different and exciting for them to get involved with, all-the-while gaining strength and confidence.
New Bonus for Winter-Spring 2020!
A full Access Pass to FBC will be INCLUDED for your child for the duration of their program at no extra cost! This means they can come in any time during the week to climb, train and have fun. This is a savings of roughly $120-$210 (depending on age/membership status).
If you're renting shoes for the program, they will not be included for climbing time outside of the skills classes, but we would recommend purchasing a Shoe Rental Punch Card (5 rentals for the price of 4). Or, seeing our friends at Radical Edge to get fitted for their own!
Which program is right for my child?
Ages 5 and 6 will register for our Intro program. This program will focus on how to boulder safely, basic skills, gaining confidence on the wall, and having fun!
The Beginner program is for new climbers, or those who don’t yet have extensive experience. There are Beginner program options for ages 7-9, 10-12, and 13-15.
The Intermediate program is for those who have already had regular climbing experience. These participants should come with knowledge of how to boulder safely, are confident on the wall, and are able to complete some V2-V3 routes. Availability for this program (ages 10-12 and 13-15) for the Winter-Spring 2020 season will be based on interest/numbers since we have a new Development Team option! Please get in touch if you'd prefer the once-per-week Intermediate program.
The Youth/Teen Development Team will be for Youth (9-13) and Teens (14-18) (FYI there will also be an adult group!). Tryouts for the FBC Bouldering (Development) Team will take place after the Holidays on Monday, January 6th and Wednesday, January 8th (choose one) at 6:45 pm. We will aim to begin the classes the following week.
It is suggested that climbers can climb V2 routes, but final acceptance on to the team will depend on how many climbers try-out, commitment to train, and of course attitude! If you are not selected for the team, or prefer to train once per week, there still may be an option of a once-per-week skills class (Beginner or Intermediate-V2+). Please let us know if you'd prefer this option!

Beginning the week of January 12th, 2020 and running for 14 weeks of classes (skipping over March Break). If classes fill up we will certainly try and work in additional classes/time slots.
